This is an update on ad placement on this forum. "Proboards" controls what ads are placed and where they are placed. The recent insertion of ads in the middle of a thread is a new development which will only occur during a trial period ending April 16th. (As least, that's what Proboards is telling me.) Below is a copy of Proboards letter regarding this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear ProBoards Members,
As I'm sure many of you have noticed, when viewing posts on your ProBoards® message board, we now place the banner ads between the first and second posts while viewing threads. This post here is to address your concerns regarding this.
For the last 3 weeks, we have been testing this new ad placement on our support forum (which you are now viewing). We understand that initial reactions to this new positioning is, for the most part, negative. However, after giving it some time, we've found that the new placement not only blends in with the forum quite well but has become accepted among the members here.
We ask that you please give yourself some time to get used to the new positioning.
We welcome any constructive comments you have in this thread. Please stay on topic and keep the discussion to an appropriate civil level.
Updates:
1) No Image Ads Between Posts
We are working to make it so that image ads will not display in the areas between posts, as this has been a concern for some users in terms of wanting the design of their board to flow better. Please give us some time as we implement this change.
2) Fix for Boards with Small Widths (less than 728 pixels)
After going through some options in regards to those who use templates with small widths (728px and smaller):
We are going to work on making the ads "float" above the section of the page that they are on. What this will do is make your layout display properly, and the ad will just float over it's area so that it does not affect the table's width at all. It will be floating over the normal ad area, it will not block any posts. Essentially, it will look completely normal and not stretch your page at all.
This option is partially completed -- the ads now are floating so those who have smaller widths on their forums should no longer have stretching occur. We are working to add a JavaScript variable that you can use to move the ad to the left or right for those who want that option to work better with their templates.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our trial period for the ads being between posts will end on April 16th. At that point in time we will either fully revert the ads back or we will provide the option for you to select which display method you would prefer -- if you want the ads displayed at the top, or in between posts.
