rt.com/news/snowden-entry-papers-russia-902/"NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia and is allowed to enter the country’s territory. The whistleblower has been granted temporary political asylum in Russia, Snowden's legal representative Anatoly Kucherena said, with his words later confirmed by Russia’s Federal Migration service. “I have just handed over to him papers from the Russian Immigration Service. They are what he needs to leave the transit zone,” he added. Kucherena showed a photocopy of the document to the press. According to it, Snowden is free to stay in Russia until at least July 31, 2014. His asylum status may be extended annually upon request. "

from the examiner.com Snowden to Start New Life in Russiawww.examiner.com/article/snowden-is-planning-to-start-a-new-life-russia?CID=PROD-topic-email-articlesAug 1, 2013 by Harold Mandel "Edward Snowden has been granted a year asylum by Russia and he is planning to settle in there to begin a new life. Al Jazeera reported on Augst 2, 2013, Snowden 'to build a life in Russia.' His lawyer has said Snowden is not planning to publish any more leaks, and instead he is looking to build a life in Russia where he has been granted a year-long asylum. Anatoly Kucherena, a lawyer who has been assisting Snowden, has said Snowden has found shelter in a private home of American expatriates after he left Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport in the aftermath of more than five weeks of being stranded at the airport. The condition under which Russian President Vladimir Putin said Snowden could receive safe harbour was a pledge that he would not publish more information that could harm the United States. However, Kucherena said Snowden's promise does not extend to the WikiLeaks anti-secrecy group to which he has already handed over a lot of his material. USA Today has reported, Snowden thanks Russia for asylum, says 'law is winning.' National Security Agency whistle blower Edward Snowden has thanked Russia for granting him temporary asylum and has said "in the end the law is winning." Snowden has commented, "Over the past eight weeks we have seen the Obama administration show no respect for international or domestic law, but in the end the law is winning." In a statement which was issued by WikiLeaks Snowden said, "I thank the Russian federation for granting me asylum in accordance with its laws and international obligations." The very fact that Snowden has become an international hero with activists across the United States and worldwide, implies the U.S. government must be blind to how hated many of the nation's hypocritical policies really are among oppressed people across the world."
