Anyone and everyone is welcome to post on this forum.
Membership is not required to post here. Guests can post anywhere on this forum. That includes both starting threads and responding to posts. Membership is open to anyone, and also encouraged. Again, however, membership is not required for participation.
The benefits of membership are the ability to "exalt" other members, receive Email notification that your post has been responded to, send personal messages to other members, and to automatically include your "signature" at the end of a post. For example:
Economic Populist Forum
US Employment Summary[/url]
It is not necessary to give out any personal information to post on this forum.
"Hit-and-run" posts are perfectly acceptable.
The only requirement is that posters do not post advertisements for commercial products. (These will be deleted.) However, links to non-commercial sites, such as your own personal site, are welcome and encouraged.
Disagreement is completely acceptable on this forum, as well. Those posters who disagree with me or any other posters, are perfectly welcome to post such disagreements on this forum. In fact, I wholeheartedly encourage such postings, without exceptions. Don't, however, make your disagreement a personal attack on another member
There are very good reasons why I tolerate, and even encourage disagreement. The first is to maintain a truly "open" forum.
But there is a second, and possibly more important reason to allow and encourage honest disagreement. Such disagreements often create the basis for a discussion, or a new topic of discussion. A seemingly false assertion encourages postings to disprove such assertions. This cannot be stressed enough. An overwhelming majority of my own posts started as a response to an assertion I disagreed with.
Though I hate admitting I was wrong, occasionally I am forced to do so. If an assertion of mine is proven wrong, however, I'd rather find out sooner than later. I'd rather be enlightened and "change the course," rather than "stay the course" and continue being wrong.
A recent example of this is worth noting. It was pointed out to me on another discussion board that I used an incorrect inflation calculation in my post, "Recession Looming?" I would have vigorously my own statement, if I'd believed I was correct. But I was not. I not only acknowledged the mistake, I corrected it. I'm glad that it was pointed out. I'd rather not post something that is factually wrong. But if I do, I'd prefer it was pointed out to me so I can correct it, rather continue to be wrong.
(See: "Correction to Original Post" under Recession Looming?.)
In summary, anyone can post at this forum, regardless of their point of view. Membership is NOT required to post on this forum. The only limitation is the posting of advertisements for consumer products and goods. Commercial advertisement posts are not welcome and will be deleted. In contrast, links to other informational sites, blogs, & discussion boards are very welcome. I have even created an "Economic Data Links" section and an "Other Forums & Sites" section for just that purpose. Any additions are welcome. You're also welcome to put links in your posts if you'd like, including links to your own personal site if you'd like. You can also include graphics in you posts as well. (Try to limit the horizontal width of any graphics included, as excessively wide graphics make the page width of the entire thread too wide to view on the screen.)
