This is a real-time realistic simulator of orbital mechanics. Try to get yourself into orbit around Mars with a fictional rocket with unlimited fuel. I bet you can't hehe. orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/home.phpYou know what's cool? Launch the space shuttle, and only go straight up, you won't get very far. You'll learn the concepts of limited fuel and rockets real quick as you come crashing down. Very interesting, and for freeware the graphics aint too shabby.

Going straight up the highest you can get in the shuttle is 3,900 KM at apogee (half the radius of earth and lower medium earth orbit), before coming straight down at 7,000 meters/second when hitting atmosphere like a meteor. At that speed, when entering the atmosphere it is mere seconds from entering upper atmosphere to hitting the ground.
