Tonight on Lawrence O'Donnell's Obama defense show he had several interviewees on, including Alan Grayson, Robt. Greenstein, Ezra Klein, and Arianna Huffington.
Of course, before he brought on the guests, he had to remind everyone how "experienced" and "knowledgeable" he himself was about government, since he'd been involved so long.
Big frigging deal, Lawrence. You're just so wonderful, aren't you.
After allowing vichy Democrat Greenstein lay out the case for why we should all be so thankful for the Obama's cave-in on taxes, O'Donnell directed his elitist ass-holiness at Congressman Alan Grayson--one of the few Dems in Congress with any spine at all.
In his most pugnacious tone possible, O'Donnell asked Grayson how he would vote, and why.
Of course Grayson said he would vote "no," and proceeded to give his reasons. Some of them were ones I hadn't heard of. One was that Corporations were going to get a $150 billion tax which, in effect, would amount to a 100% tax reduction for the coming year.
But O'Donnell, the ultimate Obamatard, couldn't stand it any longer. He stopped Grayson cold and barked out 'Do you know what income bracket tax rates are going to go up the most in?!?!'
Grayson said the top income bracket.
O'Donnell abruptly screamed out: WRONG!! It's the 10% bracket! Their rates are going to go up 50%!!!'
Grayson responded by saying that, no, the tax on investment/capital gains would go up from 15% to 39% (or over 100%).
O'Donnell, this time even louder and more unhinged than before, screamed back at Grayson something like 'Congressman we're talking about income taxes here!!!' (um...I think that IS income tax, O'Donnell, if your income is from investment--which is the case on most of the richest Americans.)
But even that wasn't enough. Then Greenstein and Klein both chimed in, informing Grayson that he "had a misunderstanding", but then went on to lay out that, yes, there really was going to be a $150 billion tax credit over 1 year. But since the $150 billion was the result of pulling future tax credits forward to the coming years, then it doesn't really count.
In other words, though Grayson was 100% correct about the $150 billion giveaway over the following year, he was "wrong" because he didn't explain that it was only because future tax credits were being pulled forward.
Amazing.
'They'll still have to pay back much of that back in future years,' bleated both Klein and Greenstein--almost in unison.
Ganging up on one of the few genuinely populist voices serving the People is despicable--especially when that voice is clearly right.
Lawrence O'Donnell is pompous, arrogant Obamaphilic ass.
It's the O'Donnell's of the world that are progressives' and populists' real enemies.
