Heparin is coming from there. Why not the meat?
My adult son got food poisoning from undercooked pork sausage at a casino at Stateline Nev, on Monday morning, and is recovering. He reported it to the casino on Wed, and is contacting a lawyer. I've been urging him to contact their County Health dept., but it's probably bought off, anyhow.
WebMD says poisoning from undercooked pork has a 40% mortality rate. Seems awfully high to me.
My neighbor is an intrepid traveler who spends a lot of time in Thailand. He went to a small village in the boonies in the north last year, and needed to use a bathroom. The locals laughed, and said he can go anywhere. The village's pigs have the run of the place, and eat the feces. Little wonder how trichinosis propagates.

Graybeard,
I'm sorry to hear about your son getting food poisoning from undercooked pork. If you can give me any more specifics, I'll look into it myself.
Historically, the biggest problem with undercooked pork comes from Trichinosis, an intestinal parasite infection from the roundworm Trichinella spiralis.
Cysticercosis is another parasitic infection that comes from undercooked pork. It is initially asymptomatic, however. That would make it an unlikely cause of your son's illness.
Are the doctors saying that your son has Trichinosis?

Thanks for your concern ULC. He hasn't been to a Dr., as his health ins. has a huge deductible. Not very good sense, huh? But we asked him to go. A man won't go to Dr. until he thinks he will die, and soon, as you know.
His vomiting started within six hours of breakfast, so he may have avoided the real nasties. Let's hope.
