Fizzy drinks sold by Coca-Cola have been found to contain pesticides at up to 300 times the level allowed in tap or bottled water.
A worldwide study found pesticide levels in orange and lemon drinks sold under the Fanta brand, which is popular with children, were at their highest in the UK.
The research team called on the Government, the industry and the company to act to remove the chemicals and called for new safety standards to regulate the soft drinks market.
The industry denies children are at risk and insists that the levels found by researchers based at the University of Jaen in southern Spain are not harmful.

Enjoy your cookies and milk, Billy

Last week, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM) discovered melamine-contaminated cookies on store shelves. The discovery followed a nationwide October 17th recall, which included the Koala’s March Crème-Filled Strawberry Cookies found by NYSDAM, reported the Epoch Times.
Melamine is an industrial chemical used in the production of fire retardants, fertilizers, and plastics. Because of its high nitrogen levels, it can create the false appearance of high protein levels in food and Chinese manufacturers have are known to have added it to diluted milk to falsely raise its protein levels.
In sufficient quantities, ingesting melamine can cause kidney problems, including kidney stones and kidney failure, death.

Seafood imports from China raised in untreated sewage
Fish products consumed by Americans treated with dangerous drugs, chemicals
www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56004
WASHINGTON – China, the leading exporter of seafood to the U.S., is raising most of its fish products in water contaminated with raw sewage and compensating by using dangerous drugs and chemicals, many of which are banned by the Food and Drug Administration.
The stunning news follows WND's report last week that FDA inspectors report tainted food imports from China are being rejected with increasing frequency because they are filthy, are contaminated with pesticides and tainted with carcinogens, bacteria and banned drugs.
China has consistently topped the list of countries whose products were refused by the FDA – and that list includes many countries, including Mexico and Canada, who export far more food products to the U.S. than China.
While less than half of Asia has access to sewage treatment plants, aquaculture – the raising of seafood products – has become big business on the continent, especially in China.
