The Democrats attempt to attach the pro-illegal immigrant Dream Act to the Defense Appropriations Bill 3454 failed today by a fairly narrow margin.
Democratic Senators immediately came out with their disgusting whine-athon of arguments after their defeat.
The most deceptive was the implication that it will prevent "deserving" illegal immigrants from obtaining citizenship by joining the military. In fact, the implied argument was that we should allow qualified illegal immigrants to stay--but only if they were willing to serve in the military.
This simply is not true. Military service was only one of the options that would qualify them for legal status. The other qualifying action, which conveniently omitted from their arguments, was that of finishing some amount of college. In other words, military service would NOT be required if the illegal immigrant finished some amount of college.
Nearly all Democrats voted in favor of the Defense Appropriations bill with the Dream Act attached, including Byron Dorgan, Mary Landrieu, Claire McCasgill, Jon Tester, Jim Webb, Kirsten Gillibrand, Max Baucus, Nelson from Florida, Nelson from Nebraska, and Senator Conrad.
The only Dems voting "no" were Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor. (Harry Reid voted "no" for procedural reasons only.)
Needless to say, the Democratic Senate leadership promised to push for passage of the Dream Act at a later date.

Senator Barbara Boxer, apparently determined to lose her re-election bid against demoness Carly Fiorina, spoke extensively (and nauseatingly) following the vote that defeated the Dream Act.
Her arguments were both specious and hypocritical. After timidly speaking out against jobs overseas in her latest campaign ad, she turned around and made the contradictory claim that we need more workers, and that we are in danger of not having enough trained workers for future jobs--citing both Microsoft statements and Silicon Valley Outsourcers statements.
How do you make the case against loss of jobs to outsourcing, the need to create more jobs (for at least 15 million unemployed Americans)--and then turn around and claim we risk not having enough workers in the future--both skilled and unskilled?
Apparently--according to Boxer--we don't have enough skilled workers. By inference, this apparently is the reason our economy is struggling--because Americans are so stupid, unskilled, and uneducated that we can't produce enough goods with the workers we already have, and thus need to bring in more workers at every level. In other words, the jobs really ARE there. It's just that there aren't enough qualified American workers.
It sounds like Boxer has received some big campaign contributions from Silicon Valley H1B users, Bill Gates and Microsoft, and California's Corporate Agriculture cartel.
I was going to vote for Boxer for Senate, since Fiorina is basically the re-incarnation of Satan.
Now I'm not sure.

Dems are desperate and that's why they did this hail mary play, they know a lot of their kind is going bye bye after November and thought they could rally the Mexican and liberal vote.
Too little, too late.
But at least I see that those so-called "populist" Dems like Tester and Webb are total corporate scumbags and open boarders creeps just like the rest.
Populism is dead in the Democratic party.

It's all a charade. They like the illegal situation as it is. It's all about cheap labor with no rights.

The DREAM Act had it passed would have been a disaster for the nation.
Still we have a ongoing disaster with Obama declaring war on the states for trying to secure their borders with Mexico and round up illegals.

I still predict that after Obama is out of office, America will be invited to occupy parts of Mexico by the Mexican government to help fight the drug cartels. American military will enter Mexico by invitation. Most likely, it will be President Sarah as commander-in-chief our nation's military forces.

Predict all you want but it ain't gonna happen because when Mexico passes its drug legalization legislation the drug related violence will drop like a rock.
There are several other real world reasons.
1) Our military is over stretched as it is. We have zero troops and resources available. The overstretch is so bad most state NG units will never get their equipment back from either Iraq or Afghanistan because its either broke, damaged or just ran into the ground.
2) There is zero support for such a action among the American people.
3) Congress has no interest in ginning up another war front when we have two that could collapse at any time.
4) And of course there is no President of Mexico that would tolerate a incursion of American forces into his nation - it most likely will cause the Mexican people to fight against us. They still remember the last time we were there.
Palin or any GOP thug elected for that matter will have their hands full dealing with other domestic issues and a military that is falling apart.(we already have some serious problems with hasish use among our forces in Central Asia).
