Me, too. Computers are no smarter or knowledgeable than those who program them. And they have no ability to think independently. The control of activities by computers is a disaster--and not just because it is dehumanizing. It's because it is woefully ineffective. It takes me 4 times as long to do the same task as a doctor today than it did 10 years ago. And it is exclusively because of computers. Computers have their place. But they've become a solution in search of a problem. In many, if not most endeavors, they make everything--including efficiency--worse. I've watched the forced implementation of computers into Medicine over the last 10 years. They've made everything slower, and have reduced efficiency & quality of care. Again, computers and automation do have their place. But they have severe and wide-reaching limits. Acknowledging these limits is essential to making computers & automation a net plus to society, instead of the overwhelming net negative they are today.
