I wouldn't say. We currently use the phrase "Virtual Reality" to describe all forms of interactive experience. The first mention of virtual reality dates back to the middle of the 20th century, but the term itself appeared only in the late 80s. Now this concept includes both AR and MR, and 360 videos. All of these technologies have entered the market. Although they are more or less similar, there are many differences between these methods.
