Samsung's latest Fold may seem repetitive, but there are some significant changes to the 2023 flagship. samsung_galaxy_zfold5_1 Over the past few years, Samsung has enjoyed having a wing phone segment very much to itself. While there have been rumors of others entering the fray, most of it was just gossip or prototyping, but in 2023 things are set to change. Of course, the competition consists mainly of Chinese brands with limited global penetration - Honor, Vivo, Huawei, Oppo - and it sees Samsung at a very clear pace. Except for one basic model: the Google Pixel Fold . I've been using the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and it's clear to me that it's a better folding phone than the Pixel Fold - but it's not that simple. Let me explain more in my full review. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 - main image Samsung Galaxy ZFold 5 recommendation Galaxy Z Fold 5 is better than ever, the design design makes this phone fit better and feel better. In some ways it's a remastered version of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but it's clear that if you're after a book-type foldable phone, the Galaxyize camera shake; camera lenses sit a little higher; there are fewer holes in the speaker panels, and if you look really closely, you can notice that the bezel on the left of the front display is a bit narrower on the older phone.

I say huge, but it's only a difference of a few millimeters: in the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the two halves of the phone are flattened together. Thanks to a redesign of the bezel, the 2023 version of Samsung's flagship phone will see the two halves sit flush against each other instead of empty space next to the bezel. The impact of this on the device is very profound. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 feels complete now, while to me the Z Fold 4 felt like it was a work in progress - it compromised on the fold design. A Country Email List result, the new phone is slimmer when folded, it sits better in the pocket and feels better in your hand - and there is no longer a gap in the middle of the phone that collects dust on the screen as much as before. Although practically identical, when these phones are side by side, they are worlds apart. samsung_galaxy_zfold5_19 The Galaxy Z Fold 5 folds flat, unlike the Google Pixel Fold, which always feels like it's not unfolded properly. It offers an IPX8 protection rating, so it can handle some water exposure, while it continues to use a high-quality Armor Aluminum frame, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back. There are a number of colors available for the Z Fold 5 - Icy Blue (pictured), Phantom Black and Cream.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also lighter than the phone it replaces, and it's also a touch smaller in all directions - the key difference being that it's now 13.4mm thick at the hinge end, rather than 15.8mm. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 feels high quality, and so it should be given the asking price of $1,800 / £1,750, although the hinge is as sturdy as ever. The fingerprint scanner remains in the frame and sits on the power button to make unlocking easy, and I found it reliable, unlocking the phone on demand when I pressed it. The speakers built into the frame are able to provide a wide sound stage with significant separation, so it is good for causal games or watching movies without headphones. samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5-case-showcase What is not included in the design is the S Pen. While there is support for it, it doesn't come in the box and there's no dock for it. I'm not too worried about it: being a Note user and not enjoying the S Pen's size, I don't think the S Pen will be integrated into the Z Fold's design. There's an S Pen cover that carries a slimmer version of Samsung's stylus for you, and it works well enough with other styluses, so you can always slip it into your coat pocket if you're that type of user. Performance of the show Display: 6.2 inches, Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 2316 x 904 pixels
