Reuters ^ | July 26, 2007 HAZLETON, Pa (Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday struck down as "unconstitutional" a local law designed to crack down on illegal immigration, dealing a blow to similar laws passed by dozens of towns and cities across the United States. U.S. District Judge James Munley said Hazleton, in northeastern Pennsylvania, was not entitled to implement a law that would impose fines on businesses that hire illegal immigrants and penalize landlords who rent rooms to them.

Not surprising from a cheap-labor loving, Corporate-owned Bush appointee. Prosecuting employers might have a "chilling" effect on hiring cheap illegal immigrant labor, forcing employers to hire Americans, driving wages up, and reducing business and Corporate America's exorbitant profits.
We can't have that now, can we.
According to the Bush administration, anything that reduces the profits of his rich campaign contributors or supporters, or anything that reduces taxpayer handouts to Corporate America, is by definition "un-Constitutional."
Welcome to the new United Corporate States of America, where profits trump laws and the Constitution.
