www.adpemploymentreport.com/report_analysis_archive.aspxIt looks like any review of the alleged "previous" ADP reports is a complete waste of time. They've revised every last one of them to arrive at more convenient, and politically expedient numbers. Below is a copy of the text description of each report, which reveals the original ADP estimate. The numbers from the original verbal report are vastly different than the current ones posted for those months. (Every last one of them has been changed--many have been changed by HUGE amounts.) " October 2007 - According to today’s ADP National Employment ReportSM, private sector employment increased by 106,000 in October. The ADP National Employment Report , created by ADP® Employer Services, a division of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), in partnership with Macroeconomic Advisers, LLC, is based on actual payroll data and measures the change in total nonfarm private employment each month." Current report for October 2007: 115,767" September 2007 - According to today’s ADP National Employment ReportSM, private sector employment increased by 58,000 in September...." Current report for September 2007: 115,648" August 2007 - According to today’s ADP National Employment ReportSM, private sector employment increased by 38,000 in August. The ADP National Employment Report , created by ADP® Employer Services, a division of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), in partnership with Macroeconomic Advisers, LLC, is based on actual payroll data and measures the change in total nonfarm private employment each month." Current report for August 2007: 115,560" July 2007 - According to today’s ADP National Employment Report SM, private sector employment increased by 48,000 in July...." Current report for July 2007: 115,560" June 2007 - According to June's ADP National Employment Report SM, private sector employment increased by 150,000 in June...." Current report for June 2007: 115,519" May 2007 - Private nonfarm employment grew 97,000 from April to May of 2007 on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. This month's ADP National Employment Report suggests monthly gains of employment in the private nonfarm business sector averaged 85,000 over the last three months, as estimated by the ADP National Employment Report." Current report for May 2007: 113,463 " April 2007 - Private nonfarm employment grew 64,000 from March to April of 2007 on a seasonally adjusted basis.... This month's ADP National Employment Report suggests monthly gains of employment in the private nonfarm business sector averaged a moderate 76,000 over the last three months," Current report for April 2007: 113,341 " March 2007 - Private nonfarm employment grew 106,000 from February to March....This month's ADP National Employment Report suggests employment in March grew in line with the recent three month average increase in employment of 101,000...." Current report for March 2007: 113,163February 2007 - Private non-farm employment grew a modest 57,000 from January to February of 2007 on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. This month's ADP National Employment Report suggests employment grew in February somewhat less than the recent three month average increase in employment of 99,000" Current report for February 2007: 113,030" January 2007 - Total nonfarm private employment rose 152,000 from December 2006 to January 2007 on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. The acceleration of employment in January suggests that the economy remained on solid footing heading into the new year, and that December's decline resulted from unusually large downward adjustments made at some firms to reflect the year-end reconciliation of employment records." Current report for January 2007: 112,688" December 2006 - Total nonfarm private employment declined 40,000 from November to December on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. These findings suggest an abrupt slowing of employment, " Current report for December 2006: 112,526" November 2006 - Total nonfarm private employment grew 158,000 from October to November on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. These findings suggest a modest acceleration of employment in November, following three months during which, according to the ADP National Employment Report, gains in private nonfarm employment averaged a slower 104,000 per month. " Current report for November 2006: 114,401" October 2006- Total nonfarm private employment grew 128,000 from September to October on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. These findings suggest a modest re-acceleration of employment in October, following three months during which, according to the ADP National Employment Report, gains in private nonfarm employment averaged a slower 95,000 per month." Current report for October 2006: 114,243" September 2006 - Total nonfarm private employment grew 78,000 from August to September on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the ADP National Employment ReportTM. These findings indicate continued sluggish gains in private sector employment which, according to the ADP National Employment Report, have averaged just 95,000 over the past three months" Current report for September 2006: 114,037

I don't think there's any need to expand on this last post, or to give ADP's reports any further credence. They're nothing but a bunch of trained seals, who jump when the Bush junta tells them to. ADP publishes an initial estimate of employment, that comes out before the BLS report. They then revise it almost immediately after the BLS report publication. And they always revise it to make it closer to the government's concocted number. Nothing like "fair" and "unbiased" reporting.
