Caught Tuesday morning on C Span a debate on the morning call in show between NAM spokesman Christopher Wenk, and economist and china policy expert Alan Tonelson.
As usual the NAM guy had the pro-global talking points down. Tonelson skillfully countered with real facts an figures every talking point Wenk had. When asked for specifics, wenk had none, but Tonelson of course was well prepared. As usual when forced to stray from his talking points the globalist stammered and fumbled and tried to change the subject - just like they always do
They got to the call in portion of the show, and at least 4:1 were clearly against unfettered free trade or at the very least had serious doubts or concerns. Wenk mentioned that pensions and health care were huge burdens on US corps - the caller then asked him if he believed that US workers should not have pensions and health care? and got an um, um, um kind of response. And of course Tonelson jumps in and notes that the Europeans, Canadians, and Japanese all have better social programs than US workers , yet are able to be competitive.
Not sure if they re-run these shows, or if you can get them on line but it was a great show - I was glued to the set.

That sounds like it was an excellent interview. I've read a lot of Tonelson's articles, and he's always right on. It's no surprise that his pro-Globalist counterpart had a poor comeback. There simply aren't any logical arguments in favor of Globalism.
