Hillary Clinton's ties with Wal-Mart are becoming increasingly concerning to a lot of people. Below are some excerpts from a New York Times article regarding this, titled Clinton Moved Wal-Mart Board, but Only So Far. "Mrs. Clinton maintains close ties to Wal-Mart executives through the Democratic Party and the tightly knit Arkansas business community. Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, speaks frequently to Wal-Mart’s current chief executive, H. Lee Scott Jr....
The goal of the meeting was to tamp down the rancor between the company and the union, which has set up a group, WakeUpWalMart.com, that has harshly criticized the chain and leaked embarrassing internal documents to the news media...."That's just what we need, someone who'll "tamp down" the rancor between a union and the company that's trying to destroy the union. You've gotta really like the following passage. "In Mrs. Clinton’s complex relationship with Wal-Mart, there are....familiar themes... the trailblazing woman....willing to accept policies she did not agree with to achieve her ends...."Just lovely. Another of the "ends justify the means" crowd. And what are Hillary's "ends" in this case? Winning an election.

Ms Clinton is certainly pulling a "McCain", putting politics and special interest ahead of principle.
Her tie to Walmart is one of the biggest reasons I don't like her and don't trust her. Its becoming more and more apparent that Clinton's passage of Nafta and giving china MFN status was in large part motivated by their ties to Walmart.
I just could never vote for Hillary for any reason. And Obama? just nothing of substance there at all. Edwards blew it with the 400 dollar haircut.
Hate to say it but Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate catching my ear right now.

Mike Gravel is my man. Dennis Kucinich I like, too.
Optimist view: Gore will win. Pessimist view: There won't be an election in 2008.

As much as I like and respect Al Gore, and locally worked shortly for his campaign in 88 before it fell apart, his anti-war stance and environmental message are on target indeed, he is afterall a pro-global DLC'er and that would give me serious pause on a Gore campaign. He would have to renounce his past support of Nafta and show some genuine interest in putting US back on a pro middle class economic path.
