Went to a recent Ron Paul rally. What a great time
He got standing ovations on abolishing the Fed and the IRS, and against wall street bailouts. Also got ovations for bringing our troops home from around the world and strengthening our own security at home as well as minding our own business in world affairs . The biggest rise came from his call to repeal the Patriot act - and elaborated that it had actually been written up before 911 - giving credence to Naomi Klein's shock doctrine
he loses me though on SS privatization and further reduction of church state seperation and that the constituion is not a living document.
I hope his message continues to be heard. Its a shame that his supporters didn't make the connection that you actually need to get out and vote for him - sitting around in your underwear talking about him on the internet doesn't quite get the job done

Ron Paul is an IDIOT, let me rephrase that, he's a RINO LIBERTARIAN IDIOT, and the only reason he won re-election in the 14th Congressional District of Texas is b/c he outspent his Repub challenger with donations he got from contributors to his '08 Presidential run.
How to I kno that Dr No is Repub in Name Only, Libertarian Idiot is b/c I live in that district, and like so many of my fellow citizens, we are still waiting for him to do something worthwhile for the ppl living here, other than the annual recipe book he mails out to constituents -- at taxpayer expense. He votes against everything, and when something comes up that's controversial to his Libertarian and Rino beliefs, he's conveniently absent.
He's been in office 20 years, only b/c except for the guy who ran against him on Repub ticket this year, opponents have either been none existent or worse than he is. Winning the '08 primary, secured his seat for another two years, simply due to fact the DNC couldn't find anybody with a Dem-label to run against him in November. That's pretty much the way its been in these parts throughout his reign in Washington, dating back to when he ran against the incumbent politican who was a bigger idiot than he was.
Anybody who thinks Ron Paul is a godsend, needs to move down here and live under his lackluster representation. It wouldn't take long before you packed up and went back to whence you came, and with a different outlook on Dr No that you arrived with.

The main reason I like Ron Paul is his populist voting record, not his libertarian ideology.
Paul has voted against every free trade agreement, which means he's voted against every bill that increases outsourcing of American jobs and wage suppression it causes. Regarding trade, Paul has voted against every measure that would reduce American labor demand and wages, by shipping American jobs overseas.
Paul has voted against every bill that would increase illegal immigration, and has voted for every bill that would reduce illegal immigration. In this area, he's effectively voted to limit the increases in labor force size, and against the wage suppression these increases cause.
Paul's voted against most (if not all) legislation to bail out banks, investment brokers, home speculators, and the remainder of the irresponsible Wall Street financial gangsters. In so doing, Paul has voted against expanding the virtual money supply for the bail-outs, which limits inflation and preserves the buying power of American workers.
Paul has voted in favor of preserving civil liberties in almost every case, including opposition to the Patriot Act, torture, and all illegal spying activities of the government.
Despite Paul's personal opposition to gay marriage, he has voted against Federal legislation outlawing it, believing this is the domain of state governments, not the Federal government.
I don't agree with Paul on everything, but I do on most issues.
The way to view Paul is the opposite of the old adage "Do as I say, not as I do."
With Paul it should be "Pay attention to what I do, not what I say."
The latter is the adage I adhere to. And that's why I'd vote for him.

As with ULC I agree with paul more than I disagree. On trade, the Fed, monetary policy, precisou metal backed currency, immigration, states rights and a host of others
But as I have already said, I am troubled by his panders to the religious right and the gun nuts, and the privatization of SS

no offense unlawflcombatnt but unless you voted for Dr No in the Prez primaries for a job he has no possible way of winning office for, his voting record, when issues affecting ppl in his congressional district are concerned, is dismal at best. He's supposed to represent the voters of the 14th Texas Congressional District but he's too busy representing his own ideologies (populist/libertarian).
To you outsiders that seems like a noble undertaking. Easy said than having to live under his do nothing, accomplish nothing, lack of support for his constituents in a Congress that's chiefly about snatch-and-grab what you can get.
I mite support your admiration of Ron Paul if every other Congressman and Congresswoman were the same way ..but since that's not the case, us in the 14th District are hurting and doing without while all the other politicans service their ppl with perks, pork, and favorable legislation.
What's really a kick in the teeth, was when in 2008 he had a challenger who was worth something, who probably would represent and work for his constituents, he couldn't compete with the deep money pockets that the Dr No election machine had garnered from donations collected from ppl who supported his presidential run.
Sore? Darn right! If he'd not run for Prez pushing those ideals you say you admired him for, he'd not had built up a treasure chest of money that he did (off the donations of ppl during his Prez run), and we voters in the 14th District would've voted the bum out of office. Now, we have to wait another 2 years to do so, while suffering thru another 24+ months of his failure to do anything for us.
Like I said, if you support him so much. Come down here and live under his representation and see if you can sing the same tune you sing now as an outsider.
