Clinton Casts Wide Net of Lies, Claims to Lead in “Every Poll” During an evening rally in Montana’s largest city Tuesday night, Hillary Clinton explained to the crowd why she should be the Democratic Party’s nominee, but what ensued was a list of lies as she made her case. “You have to ask yourself, who is the stronger candidate? And based on every analysis, of every bit of research and every poll that has been taken and every state that a Democrat has to win, I am the stronger candidate against John McCain in the fall,” she said. The problem is, there are a number of polls that show Clinton in a close race with John McCain, many within the margin of error, not including a few that show Barack Obama beating McCain by a larger margin than Clinton. The comment was intended to prove to voters that despite Obama’s popularity, she has what it takes to beat John McCain. Clinton said that voters have to ask themselves, “Who is the stronger candidate against John McCain? We have not gone through this exciting, unprecedented, historic election, only to lose,” she said. Most recently Clinton compared the plight of Florida and Michigan voters to the struggles of the early suffragists and likened the primaries of those states to the fraudulent election that took place in Zimbabwe. www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/05/28/politics/fromtheroad/entry4130842.shtml

Republican John McCain would defeat either Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton if the Montana election were held today, a Lee Newspapers poll shows. The poll showed McCain ahead of Obama by 47 percent to 39 percent, with 14 percent undecided. McCain would defeat Clinton by 51 percent to 40 percent, with 9 percent undecided, if the election were held today, the poll showed. The general election matchups have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. www.missoulian.com/articles/2008/05/25/news/local/news03.txtHmmmm, Clinton lies.

No. "The problem" is that this is just another fabricated claim by the Obama camp. Clinton's remarks are right on target, calling Clinton a liar when she's telling the truth. Clinton is doing better against McCain in many of the key battleground states, including both Ohio and Florida. According to Real Clear Politics' poll-of-polls, if the election were held today, Obama would lose by 9 points to McCain if Florida, while Clinton would win. In both Ohio and Pennsylvania, Clinton wins by a much bigger margin over McCain. Interestingly enough, despite Obama's big win in North Carolina, Clinton does better against McCain than Obama. Below are some of the results from Real Clear Politics, and links to the polls. OhioObama 44-42.7 over McCain (+1.3) Clinton 50.3-42.0 over McCain (+8.2) www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/ohio.html______________ PennsylvaniaObama 46.3-40.5 over McCain (+5.8) Clinton 49.7-38.0 over McCain (+11.7) www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/pennsylvania.html____________ FloridaObama loses to McCain 40.0-48.3 (-8.3) Clinton beats McCain 46.0-43.0 (+3.0) www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/florida.htm__________ North CarolinaBoth Dems lose, but Clinton by a much smaller margin Obama loses to McCain, 42.3-48.0 (-5.7%) Clinton loses to McCain, 42.3-44.0 (-1.7%) www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/north_carolina.html__________ MissouriThere is no poll-of-polls calculated. There are a number of polls on both candidates done by both Survey USA and Rasmussen. Obama loses to McCain in ALL recent Real Clear Politics polls for Missouri. Obama will pummel McCain in the general election. I can't wait to see the polls after the first debate.
