A caller to Cspan a few minutes ago referenced Ed Bradley's interview with bin Laden in which bin Laden decried the US military base in the al Qaeda holy land within Saudi Arabia, and in which bin Laden declared war on the US.
The caller went on to ask the guest if we had not removed all our troops from Saudi Arabia after 9-11. He speculated that Bu$h had made a pact with bin Laden to remove our troops and not pursue bin Laden, in exchange for no more attacks on the US.
Sounds plausible to me. After all, W's Dad had undercover dealings with Iran when he was VP, and before.

Not at all implausible - and in fact very likely.
Remeber Reagan cut a deal with the Iranians to hold onto the hostages until after the election.
And if you remeber on "Fahrenheit 911" the Bush family arranged to have members of the Bin Laden clan secretly shuttled out of the country and afforded them secret service protection - something usually only reserved for heads of state. The Bush family has long dealings with the Saudis and Bin Ladens. The Bin Ladens construction firm had done a lot of work for Bushes oil company and are also investors in the Carlysle group
