Have the Fed and the Treasury managed to get all major Asian stock markets to close for the day on Monday.
It is now 1 PM in Tokyo and Shanghai, and neither market is open.
What's going on??

And they're still closed.
Is there some kind of a holiday today in China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea??
Maybe it's Hank Paulson's birthday.
Or Ben Bernanke's.

ULC,
As you know, I'm here in Japan and I can verify that today was (I'm 10 or so Hrs ahead of times in the US depending on location), a holiday in Japan. There was no trading in Japan today.
Trading in Japan will begin about 12 Hours from now (0800 EST in the US).
ULC,
Out of curiosity, why did you choose the name: Unlawfulcombatant? No ill will, I'm just curious.

One of my co-workers is from Korea, and said it was a holiday in Korea, Japan, and China. It was certainly a convenient weekend for Lehman to go bankrupt — since 3 large Asian markets weren't even open. I picked the name as a spoof on Bush's phony "unlawful combatant" designation of alleged terrorist suspects. (I had to pull a couple of letters out because of its length.)
