I predict the main reason we will eventually get universal health care is because corporate America will want it. Why? They will say they can't compete globally with every other industrialized country in the world whose governments largely foot the bill for health care. Here is an article that says $1500 of the price of every new car built in America comes from covering employees: www.newsobserver.com/business/story/1063696.htmlHealth care will be socialized just like these bailouts. McCain keeps talking about the fundamentals of our economy. The economy is going to fundamentally change all right, but the dial is moving to the left. There will be no other choice.

We can't afford it thanks to Congress and Bush and the economic disaster we now face. BTW Bush is currently feeding Obie a crap sandwich every day, notice how the stock market has been systematically tanking ever since Obie won? It ain't coincidence. Bush withdrew the Plunge Protection Team the moment Obie won.
By the time Obie takes office, the stock market and dollar will lay in ruins. His hands will be very much tied.
And moving left won't be a option, that only works if you have a robust economy to feed the massive welfare state we have. This is why you don't see Swedish style socialism in 3rd world shit holes, because they can't afford it. It takes a healthy economy to have a welfare state.
Obie will be lucky if he doesn't have cut Medicare and Social Security.
Sure Big O can ramp up the printing press like Hugo to pay for his social programs, but he can kiss the dollar goodbye if he does.
That said, even if the economy was strong enough to host UHC, we need to address the rampant price gouging by hospitals, HMO's and big pharma. If thats not addressed this gang of three will see universal health care as a cash cow much the same way the cost of a college education is spiraling out of control.
Also we need to get a handle on illegal immigration. Those folks go to ER's for every thing from headaches to using them as their primary care physician and clog up every major hospital in the country.
My local ER for example(one the busiest in the state of CA - sees about 100,000 people every year), from 10am to midnight its packed with illegals. You better have a serious problem(cardiac related is good) if you don't want a 6 hour or longer wait. Your best best is to get sick in the morning and arrive around 9am to see a doctor. Its odd though, the so-called sick don't start wandering in until 10-11am.

Don't care if the political elitists make UHC (universal health care) manditory, I won't pay their premiums -- Fook Em All, specially the Donkeycrats who brought us the failed universal housing debacle via Freddy Mac 'n Fannie Mae pushed on us by BarneyFagg (D-MA) 'n ChrisTurd (D-CT)... I'll go farther underground, and route rest of my liquidity offshore, LOL

I'm sure the 47 million who don't have health insurance will welcome the change. Maybe we can rise above the ranking of the 37th best health care system in the world. www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

Hawaii quit its manditory and universal health care for children. One of its fundamental financial assumptions failed very quickly. That was that parents with private health care would continue with the private health care for their children. Rich and middle class parents dropped their private coverage for their children and used the 'free' universal health care provided by the state of Hawaii.
The state of Massachusetts' manditory, universal health care is failing for a similar but different incorrect financial assumption. More than 30% refused to pay the manditory premiums and did not pay the penalties imposed to recieve free care which they were not refused to get even though they did not pay anything.
Of a similiar nature but not dealing with health care, manditory and universal auto insurance in California is failing. More than 30% drive without insurance. They can cheat the system by proving they have insurance when forced to go to court by buying an auto insurance policy and then cancelling the insurance policy once the court is satisfied that the offender now has auto insurance. Thus, the offender often has to pay for insurance for merely one month.
