You wonder why Krugman was selected? Have you no imagination? Certainly they can not award Algore all of the nobel prizes and still expect to reatin any credibility. Besides Als greatest contributions to economic theory, mainly NAFTA, have been largely forgotten. Someone who's views are more contemporary was needed for this selction, and although some still lobbied for the choice of disgraced entertainer Jim Kramer, Krugers unquestioning support of the status quo was the cherished attribute sought by all. Who better for the sweedish central bankers to select foir the prize than that unabashed champion of centralized money management, Paul Kruger.
I agree with those who claim that in light of this years global financial meltdown, noone should be awarded a prize in economics and instead, all winners for the past 20 years should be required to forfiet their prizes or farce prosecution for fraud.
