Obama Meets With Officials on Iraq, Signaling His Commitment to Ending WarBy PETER BAKER and THOM SHANKER WASHINGTON — President Obama gave his national security team on Wednesday a new mission to end the war in Iraq, nearly six years after United States-led forces invaded, but he held off ordering a troop withdrawal right away to hear concerns and options from his military commanders.www.nytimes.com/2009/01/22/us/politics/22prexy.html?scp=5&sq=iraq&st=cse

Let me fill you in on a little secrete. This war was never meant to be won, and Obama sure as heck ain't gonna win it or leave. This economy is in the toilet, we are in a depression. Obama, Bush or McCains only option other than Ron Pauls is to keep the war going, they gotta keep the fear going. understand now? now, run off and be quiet, we don't want the other Obama grovelers and boot lickers to get upset.

You think the economy is bad now? Just wait till you have a bunch of soldiers out of Iraq at home, without a job! People begging for more government oversight to feed, clothe, and nuture these thugs who don't know how to take care of themselves! This is all they know! It's why they went and joined the military in the firstplace! Obama is either planning to have the troops go somewhere else but Iraq, or socialize everything. Because the only other option would be to just let the brought home troops starve and go jobless. And that would be career suicide for any politician! People are too weak and ignorant to understand that. The best countries are the ones that stick to a plan. Be it a police state where everyone is a soldier to the fuhrer, a free market dystopian where the corporations controll the country as it's just another one of their assets, or we keep playing around and diverting attention by borrowing, and putting up a bunch of smoke and mirriors! Eventualy someone is going to have to giveup this facade that it matters what other people think. And start doing what needs to be done! We either need to privatize the military and let the free market invade those countries to expand their revenue or hire mercenaries to fight some other country's battles, or we need to pour all our resources and attention onto the military and get everybody onboard. People who are not in the military are second class citizens and we pursue other countries that we're in debt to and destroy them. Modern day vikings! In short: We either need to become the book or movie version of Starship Troopers. Starship Troopers is actualy recoomended reading in the army. And I defend the book because my father (and hopefuly me soon) work for Wackenhut. The largest transnational security company on the planet!

Obama said he was going to leave a substantial military force in place inorder to maintain the peace after the widthdrawl was over. In other words, Obama would not completely withdraw as promised. Still one can never know what Obama will do because he breaks his promises so often.
On the other hand, Obama has single handedly expanded the war in Afghanistan. Who knows how long Americans will die there because Obama is so popular that the normally anti war Democrats completely support his unnecessary war there.

It's really depressing to watch how Democrats fawn over the Great One when he's doing the opposite of what he promised, and the opposite of what his Democratic supporters wanted. Obama's escalation of the war in Afghanistan makes him and even bigger war monger than Bush.

Obama is going to claim we're going after Bin Laden where Bush got distracted by drama and bullcrap.
I knew sense 2001 Bin Laden has been dead. Those tapes were all precrecorded. Osama was clearly dying of disease, and they set this whole thing up. If he was alive, he'd be planning something, he'd make appearances, someone would've seen him. But nothing.

We NEVER LEAVE ANY COUNTRY we invade period. We will always have massive permament garrison in Iraq(50,000+) and Afghanistan(probably as much or more given its never been a real country due to ethnic and tribal rivalries).
Long live the American Kleptocratic Empire.
Still gotta love those warmongering Democratic hypocrites and their morally bankrupt liberal followers. They were against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan when Bush was but when their secular and multicultural Messiah decided to keep Bush policy going, what did they do?
They fell all over themselves and got in line with the Bush 2.0 agenda.
So much for morals and ethics among the political hack class.

Obama did not withdraw troops hardly at all from Iraq. Obama promised to expand the Afghanistan war during his campaign.

We still have Guantanamo in Cuba as a result of the Spanish American war. We would still own the Philippines if Japan hadn't invaded. Puerto Rico, Guam and the rest of Micronesia are American protectorates from the Spanish American war.
We took parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California after invading Mexico in 1847.
No, I can't think of anywhere we've left after invading.
