Collusion between Congress and corporations
Tuesday, August 4, 2009
Editor:
Congress does not represent us or our inalienable rights, but rather, serves the needs and demands of our corporations. Our corporations give money to our politicians and like the Mafia of the last century, influence the laws our Congress makes. We have become a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. Our politicians take an oath to uphold the Constitution but violate that oath by not protecting us from violations of our rights by politicians, corporations, and our own police departments. We no longer have a democracy but an oligarchy — a government ruled by a small group of people who serve themselves.
While George Bush and Dick Cheney openly violated our Constitution, our Congress refused to do their duty by bringing impeachment charges against them. If we ordinary citizens break the law, we are arrested and brought to trail for the most minor offense, while our politicians violate our Constitution and our Congress looks the other way.
While our corporations poison our air, water, land and food supply, our Congress does nothing to “protect us from threats, both foreign and domestic.” Our Congress is selling us out by not acting to protect us from individuals in government and from the leaders of corporations who have taken over our country.
The FDA violates us by allowing pharmaceutical companies to sell medicines that are killing us. Our FCC allows corporate leaders to monopolize our airwaves and disseminate lies and propaganda. Our DMV violates our right to move freely in our cars, by violating our constitutional laws against unlawful search and seizure. Our Congress and president allows our CIA and FBI to violate our rights by torturing us and spying on us in our homes and our private lives. Our police stop us unlawfully, abuse us, kill us and violate our constitutional protections, and police chiefs cover for them, DAs won’t prosecute them, and judges dismiss their violations.
We the citizens of our country are violated in our inalienable right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” by politicians who have sworn an oath to protect our “inalienable rights.” We have to speak up and make our grievances known, if we are going to change what is happening. So please, speak up whenever you see any violations of our inalienable rights and maybe we can make a difference together.
