20 yr. of Dilbert, Dilbert 2.0
I spent my entire career in offices and mostly in cubicles. I developed an warm feeling for the Dilbert comic strip. This CyberMonday I got a deal at Amazon.com and bought the hardcover Dilbert 2.0 which is 20 years of Dilbert comics. It comes with a disc contain his comic strips through 2008.

Gotta love Adams for really nailing the cube life and its management. I remember when I went from field service(hourly wage) in IT to being a salaryman, it turned out to be the worst decision in my life, it was sheer hell. Management watched you like a cop looking at a crispy creme, the co-workers repeated everything I said to them to the boss hoping to curry favor, then there was the mutual loathing and hate fests.
Yes, the PHB and Mordac the Refuser do exist in real life, so the Wallies and Teds.
Office Space became my favorite movie.
In 3 years I got so ill that I had to quit in order to save my health. Which was a great decision seeing what happened to my co-workers. My female boss went from 140lbs to over 300 and a triple chin within 2 years. Others sacrificed their physical and mental health for mediocre promotions.
If I would have known what was in store for me, I would have avoided IT altogether and stayed working as a industrial electrician. At least that work was meaningful and the guys were great to work with. Can't say that about the anti-social geeks that populate IT.

gotta to agree with you waltc.
had an old girl friend who worked for a large company in a cubical for 18 years.
yes she made it from mail room to vice president but the toll it took on her was sad indeed.
the stress gave her cancer that ate her up.....
but also she never had time for a family, kids or me....
turned into a lonly lezzie, not even her clients liked her.
but she was a "company" boot licker
