I'm trying to find out how much net SS taxes were collected from american taxpayers in 2008. to google we go right? enter: Total SS collected 2008 first listing is wikipedia- not bad, but it doesn't give me a total collected figure second listing? www.heritage.org/Research/SocialSecurity/wm1868.cfm a fucking opinion piece which, by the way, also does not give me a figure. But it's easy to see why it made it up the list. The report is scary, it makes people wonder if it could be true, and people link the shit out of it in their discussions on whatever forums they are participating in. Now google thinks this page has relevant information, when it's just opinion. EDIT----------------- my bad, that heritage piece WAS NUMBER 1 on the google search heritage outranks wiki? pleeeeeease. I might have to try bing

Check my link under the Economic Data links section for Treasury. They give a number for the total revenues for Social Security.
I'm not sure they're correct, but the Treasury Dept. does show numbers for Social Security revenues.
