Supposedly this debate in 1993 swayed public opinion towards NAFTA. Supposedly public speaking abilities, how you look at a debate, is more important than the substance of a debate.

Did it sway public perception? Maybe, but Gore came off as a smarmy piece of shit(which he still is) and I doubt he convinced anyone who wasn't already against NAFTA.
However I do remember back then that the MSM went balls out to push NAFTA as the greatest thing since sex and they censored anyone who thought differently.(kinda like the same way they promoted the war against Serbia and the Gulf Wars). Yep even back then the MSM was a instrument of the President and big business.
Then of course you had all the Senate and Congressional crooks supporting it being trotted out as some sort of stamp of approval for the abomination.
Newspaper Op-ed pieces were 90% pro-NAFTA, anti-NAFTA pieces weren't even allowed in many cases. Even Perot was denied air time to run anti-NAFTA ads. When he finally got air time, it was at 3 am in the morning!!
If anything NAFTA stands as a testament to the criminal conduct of the Executive, Legislative branches of government and the 4th estate.

In the second video, I noticed Perot said that the major networks wouldn't let his organization buy air time to air anti-NAFTA adds.
If true, that's unbelievable. That would indicate to me that those major networks aren't a media but a pro-governement propaganda arm.
And I agree with waltc, Gore comes off as a smary 'piece of shit' and I noticed that he often interrupts Perot (at least up to the second video).
At the time, I remember I was mad at Perot because I thought he helped Clinton to win. Now looking back, I think we would be in almost the same boat is Bush had won. Looking back, I wish Perot had won.
Thanks for the links, I'm going to watch the rest of them.

If Clinton would have done the right thing and dropped out of the race instead of foolishly remaining in it until the end, Perot would have won and NAFTA would have been a bad nearly forgotten joke.
