Maybe they should have helped the robber get his Chinese-made laptop out the door, instead of trying to stop him.

7-11 stores fire employees for resisting robberies as a company policy to prevent injuries to workers and/or patrons of the stores and lawsuits. This policy has been in place for a long time and employees are instructed not to resist robberies.

If the employees were smart they'd just ignore all shoplifting attempts. After all the chains don't want any trouble, so it's best if the employees let them walk out with the latest ipods and flat-screens.
See nothing say nothing.
Besides they ain't paid enough to be store cop and stock clerk.
Besides a chain like Wal-Mart could easily handle a billion year in property theft and not blink a eye.
