This month's jobs report is just a smaller part of the dismal long-term employment trend. Despite the Great One's dishonest claptrap, there have only been 426K jobs created in the last year, according to the Household Survey (the one used to calculate Unemployment). The Household Report is considered a more accurate indicator of long-term job growth (those less accurate month-to-month). Compared to May 2010, there are 1.388 million more Americans over 16 who are not working. Compared to May 2008, when total employment stood at 146.046 million (see "Attachment" below), there are still 6 million less jobs as of May 2011 at 139.779 million. About the only claim Obama can make is that all of those jobs weren't lost on his watch. Since January 2009, we're down "only" a little more than -2 million jobs. But since that time, we have 7 million more Americans over the age of 16 who are not working. Attachments:

McDonald’s Adds McJobs McDonald's is likely responsible for creating more than half of all new jobs in May. www.nacsonline.com/NACS/News/Daily/Pages/ND0607118.aspx"The Labor Department won’t detail an exact McDonald’s figure — they won’t identify any company they survey — but there will be data in the report to give a rough estimate.” Maybe it's because their survey shows that noone but McD's is hiring, and they make up the rest with seasonal adjustments.
