www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7369820n&tag=re1.galleriesJust caught the last end of this 60 minutes show, the lefties were complaining about tinkering with the the genetics of algae. "Who are you to play God?" They say. "I don't believe in God," was the reply. hehe Greens should be opposed on all fronts, anyone sounding like a Green should be opposed, anyone who allies with the Greens should be opposed, anyone who sympathizes with the Greens should be opposed.

If I have to choose between the Greens and the Corporate Elites, I'll take option #3. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_vehicleAn electric car with solar panels built in and solar on my rooftop. We're still a ways away from a market that's friendly to electric cars that have solar recharging, but the technology is here right now. Give me that so I can say piss off to paying for biofuels, piss off to the Greens, piss off to all of them. I don't want to be held hostage by anyone for energy. I want my freedom.

Solar cars are only practical for single midgets. That's it.
Want good MPG? Get a old Citroen. Their MPG is equal to the best cutting edge alternatives out there. And you can repair them yourself.
Solar and wind are good for homes. Provided you get plenty of both and your energy demands aren't great. No living in a 4000 sq ft house with cathedral ceilings, no hot tubs, no tankless water heaters, refrigerated A/C, etc.
Still you need another fuel source when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing. Otherwise it's lights out Gracie to use a phrase.

Some months back the Ansari folks held a competition for high MPG cars. PV's weren't allowed. Why? Because they aren't useful and nothing more than a self-propelled coffin.
This is not to say the entrants in the Ansari Automotive competition weren't death traps - a good many were. Some were lifting bodies so if they were on the road when a 18 wheeler passes them - they go airborne and the results will be deadly.
Also PV just doesn't generate the energy in the amounts useful for transportation. Hydrocarbons just plain ass outshine PV in this department.

But you can't fuel them yourself. You still depend on price-gouging corporations to obtain fuel. I want personal independence. I drive an old RAV4-EV SUV for that reason, and intend to get one from Tesla Motors when they get them onto the market. I am tired of making these corporations rich. I hate oil companies, they gouge the hell out of people.

So if electric cars ever become competitive with hydrocarbon vehicles (NOT!) you don't think big bad corporations will be making electric cars? And Tesla Motors (subsidized by California, a failing state), is a incorporated too like the other big bad corporations.

If they haven't done it already, the big car companies will buy heavily into Tesla.
A gallon of gas is equal energy to 34 KW of electricity. You know how long it takes to charge a battery at reasonable current with 34KW? It's a loser.
If there is an alternative to gas/diesel, it may be in fuel cells.

No big car company is going to buy Tesla, electric cars are forever going to be an oversubsidized niche for a bunch of rich brats who feel guilty for being rich; and rightly so they should feel guilty, they probably got rich off the backs of cheap foreign slave labor.

GB Whatever the alternative is, I don't want to be dependent upon price-gouging corporations. Least of all the oil industry which has screwed America royally for years. Whoever controls energy, controls the world. You know why all this anti-solar propaganda is going on out there? Because if people switched to solar, corporations control a much smaller share of energy. They can't shut us off or price gouge is as easily as they do now. The energy market would shrink due to individual independence. Of COURSE fossil fuel corporations are going to bombard us with "Solar doesn't work!!!!" propaganda. Follow the money! They have TRILLIONS of dollars to lose. They have enormous amounts of power to lose. Every time we convince ourselves that solar will NEVER work.. cha ching! More money for the energy oligarchs. This says it all: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/19623817589578478851057.jpg

And it won't matter how many trillions are wasted subsidizing "solar", solar doesn't replace OIL. Stop lumping in transportation fuels (oil) in with electrical generation fuels (coal) into one grand category called: Energy.
