There are already 10 cars right now that get more than 40mpg right now. One even gets 70mpg. Problem is most of them are diesel and are not allowed into the U.S.

BTW the Repukes shot their wad in '10 and then showed themselves to be anti-worker and pro-corporation, pro-globalist. They have no real support outside of their core voter segment. Beyond that they have zero appeal.
And they have no one who can take on Obama. They are all decidedly un-telegenic and have a platform that appeals to no one except their fanatical base. Christie is morbidly fat and looks grotesque. Perry is a gutless scumbag, Romney is well a rich Mormon full of corporate money, Bachmann is just nuts, Palin is too polarizing and stupid. The others aren't even worth mentioning.

54 MPG goal? That's what they said in 1998 (-13 years), and guess what, Democrats were in charge in some of those years since 1998.
Yeah I know, 2025 (+13 years) seems so futuristicky. It's divisible by 25, one quarter of a century, and that's when Blade Runners are suppose to be running around chasing replicants in their flying cars, but that's not the way science works. It's called science fiction. Get a grip.
