The Independent just may have a chance for this open seat, as the Dem is a ditzy named by Reid, and the Repub is a hack. Helmuth Lehmann (I) should run over the other two. My older son is working on his campaign.
"..Ideologically, I am to the left of him in some areas, but overall I am very impressed with his deep knowledge of the issues. He strikes me as a stand up guy whose integrity would not be compromised by Washington DC, or some (non-existent) party bosses. To latch on to a campaign of an underdog is definitely not the path of the least resistance, but this is a path I strongly believe in.
On a campaign postcard Helmuth gave me, a few of things he mentioned:
-Eliminating tax credits for offshoring jobs
-Have Europe and Asia pay for our troops (or they serve stateside instead.)
-Creation of solar energy zones would create over 50,000 jobs.
-Opposing Wall Street privatization of Medicare and Social Security
-Develop eco-friendly mining practices for rare earth metals instead of China having 80% of the market.
In addition, I have been reading his book "Losing America" and no political party is spared in his critique of Wall Street and Washington D.C. He talks about sub prime mortgages, the SEC, credit default swaps, derivatives, politicians, and everything under the sun that pertains to our current economic crisis, and future problems that await us, unless Congress acts.
Wed 8/17, 7PM (pdt), the first of two televised debates. We'll go at it for an hour. In NV, Ch 4 or KUNR/PBS Radio @ 88.7 FM Anyone can watch the live-stream; at
