I'll try to explain this. When ever we are driving the 02 Windstar, i'm hearing what sounds like metal to metal, also what sounds like when your struts are needing to be replaced. I just replaced them about 2 years ago.. I'm just reaching 100K miles. --------------
Followup:
I went to Sears, after checking around for prices. I found out that the set of struts that I put on last August, were crap (bought them off ebay). Everything about these struts were absolute crap!! My Sears buddy, took them off (I watched the whole operation) and showed my what the problem was. Now all noises are gone and it rides smooth! ---------------
My comment:
That is scary. This is more proof we need 100% inspection of all imports - paid by the importers.

I'm assuming the defective struts came from overseas.
Were the defective struts brand new when you put them on?

Sorry, it wasn't my experience; I just quoted. Sure, they were new. There are at least three quality levels in replacement parts now.
