"porkers" Hillary & Obama in the "Pig Book" "Sen. [Barack] Obama had 53 earmarks worth $97 million dollars, and Sen. [Hillary] Clinton had 281 earmarks worth $296 million. McCain has never requested them and he won't be doing so in 2009. A watchdog group critical of pork barrel spending released its latest findings Wednesday targeting the top Congressional "porkers." The "Pig Book" names dozens of what the citizens group considers the most egregious porkers, the lawmakers who funnel money to projects on their home turf. www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/02/pork.spending/index.html?section=cnn_topstories&eref=yahoo

This might sound like a lot at first, but some perspective is in order.
Hillary Clinton has been in office 8 years. Her $296 million in "pork amounts to $37 million/year, in an annual budget that is now $3 trillion/year. That's a about 12 millionths of the Federal budget. If all ~500 Congressional reps spent $37 million/year, it would amount to ~$18.5 billion/yr. That's 1/162nd of the Federal budget.
Obama's $97 million over 4 years is only $24 million per year. Spread this spending out to ~500 Congressional reps would be about $8 billion year.
In contrast, Defense spending is over $500 billion/year. Iraq war spending is in the $200 billion/year range.
Another comparison is with the Fed's latest Corporate welfare policy. The Fed has essentially given way over $450 billion to rich investors and investment banks over the last several months.
$8 billion, or $12 billion per year is very small in comparison.
The significance of "earmarks" has been greatly exaggerated by the press and the Corporatists to distract the public from the real issues and the really big monetary outlays.

Unlawful, you are absolutely correct. The Corporatist (Neocon Neofascist) and their bought MSM are nothing but a propaganda machine. Like the giant ponzi scheme (the fraud), they have created, they are also good at three card monte (misdirection).
