The total in this latest recall is 9 million in the U.S., plus the previous 1.5 million.
10.5 million dangerous/defective toys is a huge amount.
80% of our toys are imported from China. It's time for Americans to stop buying any toys that are made in China. These Chinese toys are not essential to their child's wellbeing. In contrast, their purchase can definitely be harmful to their wellbeing.
Americans need to stop buying anything from China that has an American substitute. Buying Chinese puts Americans out of work, and puts their lives, and those of their children, in danger.

Mattel and Fisher price are now on my list of products to avoid. It is they who chose to close all of their US factories and ship them off to Mexico and China, putting thousands out of work, In our city the old Mattel plant still sits vacant and is a pretty modern facility that could easily be used for many purposes - hundreds lost their jobs when they packed it up and went south of the border - almost as fast as the ink dried on Nafta.
The FDA says that there is NO safe level of lead exposure for children that even in small doses can cause learning disabilities, and since it is a cumulative poison there is absolutely no reason to uneccessarily expose kids with their toys - this is just plain criminal and again a form a state sanctioned terrorism.

On the Ed Schultz show today he talked about the corellation of lead and the time frames of the beginnings of importation of chinese children's products with the increase in Autism rates - lead as well as mercury have long been suspected by those not afiliated with the medical/pharmacuetical industry as triggers for autism.

I said this in another thread but it bears repeating- I urge parents to NOT send back or discard any of the suspect toys - if your child is injured or poisoned by them you will need them for evidence in a lawsuit.
The whole idea of the recall is to destroy the evidence.

Good catch!
I hadn't even thought of that. Definitely do not send the toys back.
Mattel needs to be sued for all their worth, and then some.
