Intel builds $2.5 billion factory in China... Also from the article: " The factory takes Intel's total investment in China to 4 billion dollars.
The company already operates two assembly plants as well as research and development centres in the country." That's $4 billion less being invested in the United States, and $4 billion less being used to create jobs for American workers. In fact, that $4 billion will reduce American employment, by using Chinese workers to produce goods that could have been made by American workers. That $4 billion reduces demand for American production by American labor--replacing it with lower cost Chinese labor. Only a fraction of the labor cost savings is passed on to American consumers. The lion's share of the savings goes toward Intel's profits-- both to Corporate management and stockholders. Meanwhile, 100% of the job loss is born by American workers, and 100% of the labor cost savings comes out of the pockets of American workers. Thus, in exchange for a small price reduction for consumers, there's a huge loss of American labor income. This is a classic tale of a Benedict Arnold Corporation. The only thing "American" about Intel is they feed off the "American" consumer market. Meanwhile, Intel profiteers by reducing the labor income of those same American consumers. The small price reduction comes at the expense of a much larger reduction in American buying power. Talk about "biting the hand that feeds you." Intel is the league leader. I'm glad my computer has an AMD processor, instead of one by Intel. I'll never buy another computer that uses an Intel processor. We can add Intel Chairman Craig Barrett to the list of Corporate Super-Slimeballs. He can take a seat next to his fellow Corporate Super-Slimeball, Microsoft's Bill Gates.
