From what I understand, AT&T also issued a gloomy forecast based on the fact that there were going to be a lot of missed payments in 2008. This has to be an indicator of the overall condition of the economy. American Express Warns on 2008 NEW YORK (AP) - American Express Co. expects slower spending and more missed payments on credit card bills to hamper its profit throughout 2008, the company said Thursday.
While rich people are still doing fine, American Express said the slumping housing market has begun to take its toll on the American consumer. Charges on the company's roughly 84.7 million cards began to tail off in December, American Express said, and more clients failed to repay their debts. money.aol.com/news/articles/_a/american-express-warns-on-2008/n20080110163009990055

They could save a lot of money by not sending me so many sample cards. I must get one a week or more from them.

I think it's the membership in Costco that attracts so many AX card offers. I sent her to the one on Katella with my card last week, not thinking about it. They wouldn't accept visa or my card, so I had to rescue an angry wife with a cart full of junk. Had to rob their atm to pay the bill. She's not going back.
