There are helps and hurts with the proposed computerization, but in the meantime, I learned an important trick: a Health Resume, if you will.
I have a single page I keep updated in Notepad. It is primarily for my wife, with a synopsis of her insurance info, doctor list, medical history, and present schedule of drugs. She carries it in her purse, and the medics always make copies of it if we don't have an extra in hand. If nothing else, it saves time filling out histories. In the extreme, it could be a lifesaver.
Oh, I have my info on the same page, but it's only a couple of lines.

yeah- I was impressed by my own father when he was in the VA, keeping track of everything that he had being done to him and catching doctors prescribing shit that would have interfered with his other medications. I suppose I should also be thankful the doctors were open and cooperative enough to explain everything to him when he asked.
