Toyota: remorseless murderer
The released statements seem to me best labelled as Toyota bragging about buying a compromise unethically resulting in Toyota murdering Americans. Toyota's bragging is a confession by a remorseless murderer.
Toyota murdered Americans in the traditional meaning. Murder, as defined in common law countries, is the unlawful killing of another human being with intent (or malice aforethought), and generally this state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter). Toyota premeditated, planned and acted to literally make cars that Toyota knew was killing Americans. Toyota continued to murder Americans. Toyota had wanton disregard, bragged about its actions in writing.
Toyota is being sued. Toyota should be made an example of punishing wrong doing. Americans have long resorted to our civil law courts to 'punish' wrongdoers that act willfully to physically harm Americans.
The American government was a co-conspirator by accepting a negotiated result that continued to kill Americans. The American government should correct its bad actions by changing the way it performs negotiations with car makers, compensating victims, firing those in the American government who acted to continue to murder Americans.

Toyota Cited $100 Million Savings After Limiting Recall
Toyota estimated that it saved $100 million by negotiating with regulators for a limited recall of 2007 Toyota Camry and Lexus ES models for sudden acceleration, the same problem that has since prompted it to recall millions of cars, documents turned over to a Congressional committee showed Sunday
The estimate was in a confidential presentation from July 2009 listing legislative and regulatory “wins” for the company. The presentation was among thousands of pages of documents provided as a result of subpoenas by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, one of three panels holding hearings in the next two weeks on Toyota’s safety problems.
The carmaker’s chief executive, Akio Toyoda, is set to testify before the oversight panel on Wednesday. The House Energy and Commerce Committee opens the round of hearings on Tuesday, while a Senate committee will meet on Toyota next week.
On Monday, Toyota reported that it faced two additional investigations related to unintended acceleration and braking that has led to the recall of millions of its cars. According to a report by Reuters, Toyota has received a Securities and Exchange Commission request and a federal grand jury subpoena for documents related to the sudden unintended acceleration.
