If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend this movie! It is available on line here at PBS for viewing until this Thursday. It's a great documentary, not only for the points it makes about the food we eat, but the corrupt corporations that dominate the food industry being controlled by a handful of large oligopolies in collusion with the government, and also for the economic impact this all has. One snippet that stuck in mind that many may not know is that a typical chicken grower is in debt over $500,000 dollars and makes only $18,000 per year, basically making them enslaved to their corporate masters. Must watch imo. www.pbs.org/pov/foodinc/photo_gallery_watch.php

Thanks Judes.
I didn't get through the 1st 5 minutes before I started seeing red.
Americans who've been propagandized into this necessity of eating fresh fruits and vegetables every day, 365 days of the year, are subsidizing foreign farmers by purchasing out of season vegetables and fruits.
That's money that could be going into the American economy--maybe purchasing American food products liked canned and/or dried foods like beans or corn--instead of indulging the granola-cookie "fresh-food' nut-jobs and damaging domestic producers in the process.
If there's ever been a false media propaganda blitz--it's the one over the "necessity" of fresh produce. It's complete B.S.
People require a certain amount of calories, protein, vitamins, and--ideally--roughage. That's it. After those 4 requirements are met, there's nothing else that's ever been proven necessary, or even beneficial.
The "need" for fresh produce is complete fantasy--propagated by the MSM--the Moron Stream Media.

I remember presenting a piece about how 'getting your daily 5' of fruits and vegetables was NOT a cancer cure. There is a lot of hype.
