New home sales declined far more than anticipated by the so-called "experts." The decline from the original numbers posted from May was actually -8.3%. However, May's numbers were downwardly revised by the government so that the decline in June home sales would appear less. Following this manipulation, June New Home Sales were reported as having declined only 3%, not 8.3% like they actually did. Below is the "before" and "after" New Home Sale numbers. The top half of the graphic shows the current New Home Sale numbers superimposed on the previous month's numbers showing what the actual change would have been, had the previous months' numbers hadn't been downwardly revised. The bottom shows the currently "revised" (manipulated) numbers. The updated version of the New Home Sale decline can be found at Briefing.com

LC, Thanks for your comment and compliment. When I review the statistics month after month, it always gets confusing to keep track of the previous month's numbers. And the main reason is that the Bush dictatorship and its propagandists keep changing the previous months' numbers. Though the Corporatists defend this as simply "honest revisions," I don't buy the "honest" part for a second. The revisions are downward about 99% of the time. Today I started reading the current report on personal income, disposable personal income, and personal consumption expenditures, published by the Dept. Commercial's, Bureau of Economic (Mis-)Analysis. On page 2, I noticed that they stated May's wage and salary disbursements had decreased $2.3 billion. Since I had gone over the previous month's report (that reported May's numbers) with a fine tooth comb, I was very surprised I hadn't noticed this decline. The reason I hadn't "noticed" the previous month's decline is because it had been initially reported as an increase. Once again, the previous month's figures were falsely overstated, and then revised downward after the fact. Little wonder it is so hard to keep up with what the Bush propagandists are saying. They're simply re-writing history almost every month. Below is a copy of page 2 from of the June 30th report on the top, followed underneath by a copy of page 2 from the August 1st report. Again, note the change in reporting for May's "private wage and salary disbursements." (I'm also going to post this under my most recent post on the GDP alterations.) I'm going to go back through December to see if the same pattern has been occurring, since I have saved the pdf files to my computer.
