Isn't one of the right's talking points something about "record homeownership"? that may be true, but we also have the highest foreclosure rates since the great depression as well.
As usual the overly optimistic tell only half the story, and neglect the negatives like foreclosures, longer time on the market, 7 month supply of existing homes etc.

I think the "record home ownership" really means a record number of total homes owned, divided by the total families. The investor-owned homes and the vacation homes add tremendously to the so-called home ownership rate.
But I'm sure there's a record number of people who own at least 2 homes, which would explain why vacancies are so high.
