World Record: Kinect 10m sold quickly Adults like this gaming device without a controller in your hands that reacts to one's body movements. Adults like this better than Wii which needs in your hands devices to play. My son and his college friends do not like this hands free approach yet because Microsoft does not sell 'shooter' games for Kinect. If Microsoft could expand into the male 'shooter' game market, this hardware would find a larger market. ============================================ Microsoft has made it into the Guinness World Records with its Kinect for Xbox 360, officially the Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device. The hands-free gaming device sold faster than the various iterations of the iPhone and iPad, as consumers snapped up an average of 133,333 units daily. That’s a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale, speedier than any competitor in the same period. Kinect showed up on shelves on Nov. 4 and has since then blazed past 10 million sales worldwide. And that’s without any sex games. latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2011/03/kinect-sells-more-than-10-million-units-scores-guiness-world-records-nod.html

Kinect is for human spuds and shut in's.
If guys want a shoot'em up, just join a paintball group and get real exercise and fun.
If guys want physical contact - join a mixed martial arts gym and they can be kicking and punching other guys and being kicked and punched themselves in very little time. Generally though you won't see serious video gamers attend since pain and sweat are involved.
Same applies for outdoor activities. Especially here in CA there are many beautiful places to hike and experience. There is no excuse to be shut in playing a bad VR game.

My college son is now a Junior and quit paint ball over a year ago. He and his college friends play 'shooter' games...tell me paintball is losing ground to online, worldwide shooter games that they play all night or at gatherings. Kinect targets adults, families, women...not males or 'shooter' games/paintball players... Women and families are a bigger market than males or 'shooter' games/paint ball players. 93 million women play Zynga's Facebook game Cityville and 50+million wome play Zynga's Farmville. Yes, I agree "...There is no excuse to be shut in playing a bad VR game...", but women and families are buying so fast they created a World Record...right or wrong, unhealthy choice or not

These choices are socially and physically unhealthy.
There is no such thing as a virtual or on-line community. I've been involved with on-line groups since Delphi and the Well in the 80's. It's a illusion. I'll take 1-2 good friends in person over 100 phony friends on facebook who don't know me and I sure as hell don't know them.
Nor is it a replacement for knowing what's happening in your community or participating in local politics.
In regards to decline of real world paintball games vs. rise in on-line variants. I see the why. You can play the game while eating pizza and guzzle pop while sitting on ones ass. Gresham's Law.
Lastly, video games and various on-line diversions may very well be a major reason why Americans cannot be motivated to give a shit about Wall Street destroying their lives and futures. Just retreat into the faux world of kinect, farmville or HALO.
If the founding fathers knew that in 230 years we'd become a nation of useless, parasitical gamers and children who need to be constantly entertained, they'd have said "fuck it" and cut a deal with the Crown.

I agree. Excellent. Kids today too often are obese or skinny geeks/girls. There is little middle ground of balanced lifestyles for todays young adult generation. Denying reality does not change where young adults are putting their time and energy. They eat, drink, drug, stay single, entertain online in ways very different than the prior generations. Every generation is different with different music and time wasting selections.
